Purpose/Objective:

The FORTY (Favourable Outcomes from RadioTherapY) project has estimated that overall almost 40% of patients surviving 5 years have received radiotherapy (RT) [1]. This mirrors the 40% estimate from Tubiana in 1992, which has been widely quoted. This is an average figure across all patients with any cancer. Using comprehensive cancer and follow-up data gathered in NHS England, we have examined the role of RT for individual tumour types.
