Purpose/Objective:

Pancreatic tumors pose a significant challenge in the field of radiotherapy due to the proximity of organs at risk (OAR) to the tumor. Pancreatic cancer patients benefit from Magnetic Resonance Imaging guided radiotherapy (MRIgRT) because of the excellent soft tissue contrast and the ability to adapt online the original treatment plan based on the anatomy of the day. In this work, we studied the variation in target and organs at risk (OAR) volumes and its effect on target coverage in MRIgRT for pancreatic tumors.

Material/Methods:

Data from patients with pancreatic tumors treated at our institution between 2018 and 2023 were extracted from our institutional database. A total of 92 patients and 453 fractions delivered with MRIgRT comprised the complete dataset. Patients were treated with a treatment schedule of 5 fractions of 8Gy, for a total dose of 40Gy. Seven patients were unable to finish the course of treatment, these fractions were not included.
