training materials for new colleagues. These e-learnings have been highly regarded by RTTs, proving to be user friendly. As a result, there are plans to expand the implementation of additional e-learnings, including those focused on advanced practices such as treatment planning and decision-making, as well to integrate them into the educational curriculum for residents. Furthermore, there is an intention to share these e-learnings nationally across various radiation oncology departments.

Mental Health Burden and its Associated Factors Among Radiation Therapists Working in Singapore

Yuen Nee Yvonne Loh, Li Wen Yeo, Jaslyn Jia Min Tan

National University Health System, Radiation Oncology, Singapore, Singapore

Purpose/Objective:

Background - In recent years, there has been an emphasis on mental health and its importance among healthcare workers (Rotenstein et al., 2018) [1]. Radiation Therapists mainly work in an oncological setting, where there is high stress due to cancer burden inflicted by patients and caregivers (Zanardo et al., 2022) [2]. This could be further induced by the COVID-19 pandemic, increasing the level of stress faced by healthcare workers. It is important to ensure the mental health of healthcare workers is well taken care of as burnout could result in decreased well-being and poor quality of patient care (Melnikow, Padovani & Miller, 2022) [3] which is, in turn, undesirable.

Aim - The study was to assess the mental health strain and burden among radiation therapists in Singapore.

Material/Methods:

Methodology - A national survey was conducted among radiation therapists in restructured and private hospitals in Singapore. Eligible participants are identified from all the radiation oncology centers in Singapore and are currently practicing and fulfilling the inclusion criteria. All eligible participants were invited to participate in this survey. The study involves the administration of an anonymous questionnaire and implied consent will be obtained. The survey is non-compulsory, with no punitive action for the decision not to participate. Institutional Review Board (IRB) submission for approval and consent of the participants was obtained. Participation is voluntary, and all answers will remain anonymous. No incentive will be offered for participating in the survey. There are THREE parts of the questionnaire comprising of Part I, demographics, Part II, The Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and Part III, Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-4) is administered to assess and measure the level of mental health burden, burnout, and anxiety. Participants will be approached via electronic mail for their participation and their consent. The survey will be carried out through an online survey platform and participants will need to click on the hyperlink to access the survey and the participants should not take more than 20 minutes to complete.
