Dose-response curves for two different levels of skin damage compare the broad beam and pMBRT irradiation modalities, demonstrating increased normal tissue sparing using pMBRT. pMBRT doses are nominal doses which yield the same PTV dose as the conventional plan, to ensure comparability.

Conclusion:

Our study underscores a discernible biological gain for pMBRT with a homogeneous target dose, offering strong premises for its broader clinical implementation. The GF terminology can be used to characterize pMBRT efficacy when the target volume is homogenous, without relying on dose averaging of grid patterns.
