The surviving fraction of SQ20B cells, as predicted in GATE by NanOx, decreases as we move towards the distal edge of the SOBP with a surviving fraction at 4 Gy of 6.8%, 4.4% and 2.6% at the proximal edge, plateau and distal edge, respectively. While the NanOx model, according to this preliminary experimental data, seems to predict well cell survival between 0 and 2 Gy, it appears to underestimate survival for cells exposed to higher doses (Figure 2).
