Breast and trunk lymphoedema remains a significant concern for patients with breast cancer (4) , affecting survivorship and quality of life. The phantom study findings suggest the VisionRT AlignRT® surface-guided equipment may provide a non-invasive objective measure for early diagnosis and early onward referral for lymphoedema management. Small changes (in the region of 1%) in the surface area of the breast and trunk were identifiable using existing image analysis software. A healthy volunteer study is now in progress to test the system capability across male and female participants with varying trunk, and breast sizes and across a range of skin tones to further test whether the system can be used as an early diagnostic tool and provide reliable data for ongoing patient monitoring.
