RTT - Patient care, preparation, immobilisation and IGRT verification protocols

ESTRO 2024

This pilot study has compared the set up accuracy of departmental standard five-point shells with a less restrictive four-point shell in thoracic patients. Overall there appears to be no significant difference in set up performance whilst patients immobilised in four-point shells found the experience of radiotherapy less anxiety provoking. Based on these results the authors department has now adopted four-shells as the standard practice for thoracic patients requiring mask immobilisation.
