Conclusion:

From this study there is evidence of a role of fat in progression and survival in breast patients after RT. The prevalence of fat percentage in comparison with more dense tissues in the breast was found to be protective for local progression and overall survival. Regarding distant progression, the better prognosis is expected for patients with HU-distribution more shifted to the fat region unveiling that further analysis are warranted to better explain the interactions between the breast adipose tissue and surrounding cancer cells.
