Conclusion:

Despite a high Biologically Effective Dose (BED) (90Gy, considering an α/β = 3), one -week external beam PBI does not increase the rate of fat necrosis compared to the standard of care (BED3 = 79.5Gy) in terms of crude or actuarial rates. A possible explanation could be related to RT volumes de-escalation and an increased dose homogeneity in the setting of PBI. Nevertheless, we would need a longer follow-up for the PBI Group and a larger population size to exclude a significant increase in the actuarial rates of late (beyond 4 years) fat necrosis.
