We uncovered dysregulated metabolism in BC patients compared to healthy women through multivariate analysis (Fig.A). This included carbohydrate, nucleotide, lipid, and amino acid metabolism alterations. Post-treatment samples also exhibited shifts in metabolism (Fig.B). Across various treatments, we observed a progressive normalization of specific metabolites (hypoxanthine, 3-phosphoglyceric acid, and maltose), corresponding to the normalization of nucleotide and carbohydrate metabolism. After radiotherapy we observed an increase of dodecanoic acid which it is a cancer protector marker (Fig.C). Furthermore, we identified differential metabolites between peritumoral and tumoral tissue, reflecting the metabolic disturbances induced by tumor cells. Notable examples included ribonic acid, taurine, and ornithine (Fig.D).
