Purpose/Objective:

Radiation therapy treatment gap in patients of high-grade glioma may potentially affect survival. Thrombocytopenia during radiation and concurrent temozolomide is an important cause of such treatment gap. There are no reliable predictors to identify the patients to be affected by, or the severity and duration of thrombocytopenia during the treatment course.

Material/Methods:

We retrospectively analysed the trends of platelet counts of twenty-four consecutively treated patients in the month of August-September 2023. The cut-off for interrupting radiation was platelet count less than 100,000/cmm. Patients who underwent treatment gap were segregated from those who did not. The lowest platelet counts in each week were plotted as a line graph for each patient. The slope of data points form baseline to week 3, and from baseline to week 4 was noted. Means were compared using the independent t-test. All analysis was done using Microsoft Excel® 2019
