Conclusion: Definitive CRT for SCCA spares patients morbidity of surgery; however, toxicity profile can’t be ignored: prevention and optimally treating adverse effects is imperative. Higher values of inflammatory markers can serve as predictors of higher recurrence rates and worse survival. Better knowledge of prognostic factors could help develop individualized therapies for patients as more reliable data from prospective studies could lead to the integration of these inexpensive and easy-to-derive tools into clinical practice.
