Conclusion: This is the first study to suggest a sex-based distinction in the relevance of T4 staging in anal cancer. Tumor size continues to be strongly predictive of OS and DFS. However, T4 disease, primarily resulting from vaginal invasion, was not found to be predictive of a worse outcome in females treated with chemoradiotherapy.
