Conclusion: Radiation doses to the heart and the lungs significantly affect right ventricle function in patients treated for lung and oesophageal cancer, especially in patients with cardiac and/or pulmonary comorbidities. Therefore, it is essential to reduce heart and lung dose as much as is feasible, particularly for patients with comorbidity, through personalized treatment planning optimized for preservation of RV function.
