Conclusion: Sarcopenia is common in patients with lung and oesophageal cancer, where it is associated with increased mortality risk and an elevated inflammatory state. This analysis demonstrates a significant interaction between NLR and sarcopenia. For NLR to remain as a universal pan-cancer prognostic biomarker, a patient’s sarcopenic state needs to be considered.
