Results: The developed system was able to merge the real and virtual worlds through the HMD and display 3D support data on the phantom (Fig. 2). Team members performing surgery wear the HMD on their heads and look at the QR, and the camera at the centre of the HMD automatically recognises the QR. The positions between the real and virtual worlds are aligned using the upper left-hand corner of the QR as the reference point, and these worlds are merged. This system allows all HMD wearers to share 3D support data. The user experience can be enhanced by changing the display patterns (solid/translucent, wires, meshes, dots, etc.) and the combination of projected support data. Conclusion: An MR-guided intraoperative visual support system was developed and prototyped. We are aiming for its practical application through collaborations with the industry and academia.
