It enhances critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and psychomotor skills in a risk-free, patient-free setting, fostering collaboration and improving both technical and non-technical skills for better clinical outcomes. [1] During the last 2024 AITRO (Italian Association of Radiation Therapists and Medical Physics Technologists) Congress the association introduced “ESCAPE from the Control ROOM”, an educational escape room set within a radiotherapy scenario. This represents the first global investigation into gamification’s impact on radiography education, despite its demonstrated success in other healthcare fields. [2-3] Material/Methods: The participants were divided into groups of 3 to 6 individuals and were given 30 minutes to complete the escape room, which was set up in a dedicated room within the conference venue. The story, puzzles, and each phase of the enigma were custom-designed by the organizers.
Qualitative and outcome analyses were conducted through two anonymous, digital multiple-choice questionnaires administered to each participant before and after the experience. The entry questionnaire gathered demographic data (3 questions), level of radiotherapy training (5 questions), and prior experience with escape rooms (2 questions). The exit questionnaire assessed satisfaction (11 questions on a 5-point Likert scale) and story comprehension (4 scored questions with one correct response each). Successful completion of the escape room required all comprehension questions to be answered correctly.
