Results: A total of 500 interstitial needles were inserted in 128 brachytherapy fractions in a wide variety of advanced cervical cancer patients. Based on (CTpre-needle) findings, needle insertion was avoided in 10 fractions. The unloaded needle frequency was 5.2% in the remaining patients. The average number of needle used per fraction was 3.78. The contribution to total dwell intensity per needle was 35.6 ± 19.2%. Needle reinsertion was not needed in any patient. No complication due to needle insertion was observed. The mean HRCTV was 30.45cc ±11.69 The placement of needles enabled high dose to the CTVHR D90 (Gy) 85.5 ±3.58 with limited toxicity to Bladder D2cc (Gy) 76.22±8.45, Rectum D2cc (Gy) 66.07±8.57 and Sigmoid D2cc (Gy) 68.17±8.2.
