Conclusion There is an exponential growth on the patenting of inventions in radiotherapy. Different countries have led the developments of such technologies over time, with China having by far the highest number of publications in this century. Radiotherapy product innovations are almost exclusively being created in the global North, especially Asia. It also suggests both medical companies and investors should look East when searching for R&D inspiration or for commercial opportunities. Finally, innovations in radiotherapy devices are correlated and often used for diagnosis.
