Purpose/Objective: Precise dose measurement is crucial in modern radiotherapy. Traditional detectors may face challenges in responding adequately to ultra-high dose rate Flash radiotherapy. THGEM detectors, with their uniform microstructure and air medium, present potential solutions. This study evaluates the dose response of THGEM detectors in both conventional and Flash radiotherapy scenarios to optimize their application and enhance treatment protocols.
Material/Methods:
The electrodes of the THGEM were treated with a conductive film coating, transforming each hole into a micro ionization chamber operating at atmospheric pressure within an air medium. This design addresses charge density issues in Flash-RT dose measurement. In conventional dose monitoring under similar atmospheric conditions, the detector operates in the avalanche region by increasing the voltage, thereby amplifying the signal response.
