Figure 1: Overall percentage of plans preferred by clinical experts based on target coverage, organ at risk sparing and overall.

Clinical reviews of target and organ criteria between the two arms demonstrated a strong clinical preference for RAD over VMAT for organ sparing of the ipsilateral lung, heart, contralateral breast and low dose spill. No pattern of preference was demonstrated in target coverage. Total optimization time for RAD was 6 +/- 4 minutes and 28 +/- 11 minutes for VMAT.

Conclusion: A blinded clinical review study was performed on ten breast patients by clinical experts, demonstrating that the improvement in clinical goals provided in initial literature correlate with meaningful clinical impacts in patient dosimetry as determined by clinical plan review. Results show that clinically acceptable plans can be created with RAD significantly faster than VMAT optimization.
