Conclusion: Discrete proton arc therapy with 36 beams (PAT-36) was dosimetrically superior to IMPT plans with ≤8 beams. FAT 36 was dosimetrically comparable to 10-field IMPT (BAO-10), and also numbers of energy layers and MUs were similar. However, due to the much larger number of discrete beam angles, treatment times for PAT-36 will be significantly longer than for BAO-10.
