compositions compared to the known compositions are less than 1 mm for a 3 cm slab of that material for 200 MeV protons. For 100 MeV protons in homogenous bone and lung exhale the range difference was only 1.2 and 3.7 mm respectively. Conclusion: This work shows that using a PCCT with a base material approach determining tissue mass density and chemical composition even with very few materials can reduce the uncertainties in proton range estimation.
