The results fall within the tolerances specified in the reference protocol 1 . The accuracy of the external laser positioning relative to the MR machine’s isocenter is under 1 mm, as recommended in the AAPM TG-248 document.
Conclusion: A basic quality assurance program, lasting approximately one hour, has been implemented to evaluate image parameters, as well as the accuracy of external laser alignment and isocenter positioning. The results obtained are within the established tolerances. Performing these tests weekly allows for the monitoring of parameter trends. The TG-284 AAPM report recommends a monthly testing frequency. Once the trends of the parameters are well established, the testing frequency may be adjusted in accordance with the TG-284 guidelines. Periodic quality control of these systems is mandatory under the Euratom (2013/59) legislation. Given the potential impact of defects in MRI images, particularly in the context of radiotherapy, regular quality assurance is essential.
