using Kaplan–Meier method. To determine survival difference between the groups, log-rank test was used and p value < 0.05 was considered significant.
Results: At both mRNA and protein level, ERCC5 gene was up-regulated in 53% (n=37) of cervical cancer biopsies and the up regulation was significant (p=0.002). Also, ERCC5 protein expression showed significantly positive correlation with advanced tumour stage (FIGO III,IV vs I,II; p=0.0002), positive nodal status(N+ vs N-; p=0.033), pre-menopausal (pre vs post- menopausal; p=0.033) and negative HPV status (HPV- vs HPV+; p=0.002). At 2 years, OS of whole cohort was 82.2%. Out of 70 patients, 57 received treatment as per plan. Among these 57, who received planned treatment, there was a trend towards inferior OS in patients having ERCC5 overexpression (2-year OS: patients showing overexpression vs not- 78.9% vs 95.2% respectively, p=0.08).
