Digital Poster Evaluation of constipation assessment as part of virtual pre-habilitation for patients referred for pelvic radiotherapy. Roeum Butt, Lyndsay Smith, Deborah Sheehan, Elaine Calcutt, Lucy O'Connell, Lorenzo Verducci, Millee Swallow, Daniel Megias Radiotherapy, Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, London, United Kingdom Purpose/Objective: The aim of this audit was to assess if a clinical assessment for constipation in accordance with the NCI definition supports triage for prophylactic laxatives as part of virtual prehabilitation of patient referred for radiotherapy to the pelvis. Material/Methods: Radiotherapy patient access coordinators performed a virtual prehabilitation for patients having pelvic radiotherapy between 3-5 days before patient’s radiotherapy planning CT scan. During this call an assessment was made in accordance with the NCI definition for constipation. If patients were assessed to meet the definition of constipation then laxatives were advised to start 2 days prior to their planning CT scan. A retrospective review was then performed to assess if patients advised laxatives had a successful CT scan and if laxatives were not advised how often they were still required during the planning CT scan. Results: The baseline data results can be found within figure 1. Overall, an 85% success rate was observed for pelvic patients during their planning CT at baseline. With the introduction of the virtual prehabilitation constipation assessment, a success rate at CT planning of 91% was achieved within one month (figure 2), interpolating the data for the remainder of the year a potential improvement of 11.7% quarterly can be observed. For patient specific analysis 8 patients who had a day 0 assessment did not have a successful scan at CT but after being prescribed laxatives during their planning CT scan went ahead on their return visit. 13/13 patients advised to have laxatives during their planning CT scan were successful during their first visit.
