ESTRO 2025
The main barriers to adopting sustainable practices, as identified in the survey, were resistance to change (average score: 3.97/5) and insufficient staff training (average score: 3.92/5) (Fig. 2).
Figure 2 .Agreement levels on sustainable measures from the Likert scale in the Sustainable initiatives and measures in radiotherapy section.
Respondents highlighted the promotion of sustainability through training courses and the development of guidelines and protocols by associations such as AITRO as key priorities, with each option receiving 21% of preferences. Conclusion: The findings show limited knowledge and low participation in sustainability training among Italian RTTs. However, there is a clear need for support from associations such as AITRO through targeted training and guidelines to overcome existing barriers and promote sustainable practices in radiotherapy centers.

This study evaluates wheelchair accessibility within a radiation oncology department, aiming to transform compliance into genuine accessibility and patient-centered care. A two-pronged approach was employed, combining a structured audit against established guidelines with insights from wheelchair users themselves. Material/Methods: An audit, conducted by the department’s Health and Safety chair and building manager, utilized the Irish Wheelchair Association’s Best Practice Access Guidelines (2020, Edition 4) as a benchmark. Physical features, including corridors, waiting areas, treatment units, and restrooms, were assessed for compliance.
