ESTRO Annual Report 2018
NATIONAL SOCiETIES
With recent changes in the committee and increased networking opportunities, a lot of new activities are being arranged under the scope of the ESTRO National Societies. The committee was introduced at the National Societies Day 2018 at the ESTRO 37 congress in Barcelona, 20 April. Since then the National Societies Committee has launched an ambitious initiative to devise a new roadmap for the National Societies network over the next years. To do so, a survey was launched in June to investigate the needs of the National Societies and to determine the focus areas that will have the highest priority on the network. For the first time, the committee has also launched an invitation for societies to submit abstract to present in the programme, including national initiatives and efforts in the main programme. It is an exciting time for the network and the committee is dedicated to finalising the roadmap and implementing it on a practical level to the benefits of the ESTRO National Societies’ Network that will be presented next April at the annual meeting taking place in Milan. The annual National Societies meeting at ESTRO37 hosted 66 participants representing 28 countries. Main topics of discussion have been the ESTRO School, various updates on the ESTRO projects such the future physics task force and the RTT Alliance, as well as the and policy actions at the EU level. The NS meeting was followed in the afternoon by a practical demonstration of the HERO costing model, to allow national societies representatives to raise their questions and get familiar with the tool.
