Research course in Translational Radiation Biology and Oncology Special Focus in 2018 : Radio-immunotherapy 11-14 November 2018 | Florence, Italy

The course will provide an understanding on

TARGET GROUP The course is aimed at radiation oncologists and researchers (e.g. biologists, physicists, statisticians) in training and in practice at any academic level (PhD students, postdoctoral fellows and heads of laboratories) and interested in conducting an active translational research programme in radiation biology and radiation oncology. Lectures and tutorials are constructed in such a way that relatively little or no background knowledge of molecular biology is necessary. A background in preclinical radiobiology and translational research is a plus, but neither of these is a requirement. COURSE AIM The purpose of this course is to provide an understanding on current research trends and to outline research opportunities in radiation biology and translational radiation oncology to improve clinical practice and outcome. A combination of lectures and tutorial sessions with question/answer current research trends and will outline research opportunities in radiation biology and translational radiation oncology to improve clinical practice and outcome.

SCHOOL

translational research projects with andwithin their local research groups in this field. Opportunities are provided to discuss research grant proposals.

sessions are used to comprehend and discuss hot topics in translational radiation oncology research, consider the classic framework of radiation biology and how new translational research projects could address clinical/radiation oncology challenges. During each course a specific topic of research will be discussed in detail: radio-immunotherapy will be the focus of the course of 2018. Following completion, participants should have sufficient knowledge to read and appreciate the current research literature, understand the concepts and challenges of translational research in the field of radiation oncology, follow new developments in applied radiation biology and radiation oncology, and begin with the development of their own

LEARNINGOUTCOMES By the end of this course participants should be familiar with: • Current research topics of translational research in the field of radiation oncology • Relevant methodologies for translational research in the field of radiation oncology • Relevant endpoints of translational research in the field of radiation oncology.
