Profile & Pattern of Cancer Care in The Most Populous Province in Sumatra: Single Center Experience

Purpose/Objective:

To know the profile and pattern of cancer care in North Sumatra, with a focus on radiotherapy in one of the highest volume hospitals in North Sumatra Province, the most populous province in Sumatra Island, Indonesia.

Material/Methods:

A retrospective study on hospital medical records was performed on the 10 most common cancers in Indonesia (based on GLOBOCAN 2020). Following data completion, double filtering and data clearing was conducted. We used Microsoft Excel and Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) to process the data and to put matters into perspective.

Results:

There were 3,928 data collected with 74.2% female, and a median age of 50 (ranging from 0.6 to 88). Despite most of the patients from North Sumatra Province (84.1%), part of the patients came from other provinces around
