WPRT, when integrated with advanced radiotherapeutic techniques and imaging modalities, shows potential in improving oncological outcomes in high-risk prostate cancer patients compared to PORT. However, the data also indicates the need for careful patient selection and toxicity management. Further research and longer follow-up are required to substantiate these findings and refine treatment protocols to maximize efficacy and minimize adverse effects.

Role of hormonal treatment

Abstract

Hormonal therapy in the form of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is used with external beam radiotherapy in non-metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer (nmCSPC). More recently, intensification of hormonal therapy using ADT in combination with abiraterone acetate has been shown to improve survival in patients with nmCSPC undergoing radiotherapy. This lecture will discuss the role of hormonal therapy with radiotherapy in terms of indications, patient selection and the optimal timing and duration of therapy based on the available evidence.

Radiotherapy for breast cancer in 2024: A review of hot topics

Abstract

This talk will review hot topics in radiotherapy for breast cancer in 2024. Areas covered will include i) latest data on the use of internal mammary chain radiotherapy and consequences for technical approaches including proton beam therapy, ii) how to integrate advances in simultaneous integrated boost radiotherapy with the evolving narrative in fractionation, and iii) recent data on partial breast radiotherapy. Current guidelines and trials in each of these areas will be reviewed and implications for daily practice highlighted.
