KATHERINA FARR Department of Oncology, Aarhus University Hospital Aarhus, Denmark

Dr Katherina P. Farr received her MD from Aarhus University, Denmark, in 2006. After completing surgery, general and internal medicine rotation in 2006-2007, she is currently enrolled in a specialist training (residency) programme in clinical oncology, comprising medical and radiation oncology, at Aarhus University Hospital. Besides the clinical practice, she has conducted a PhD research project concerning perfusion single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) imaging and radiotherapy-induced injury in the lung after curative radiotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer. The project was conducted at the Department of Oncology in close collaboration with the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Centre at Aarhus University Hospital. The PhD project was guided by Prof C. Grau, Dr A. Khalil and Ass. Prof A. Morsing. Katherina defended her PhD thesis in November 2015. The primary focus of her research is on non-small cell lung cancer patients undergoing curative radiotherapy with specific interest in radiation side effects in the lungs, and measures to reduce them. Her clinical research focuses on implementation of functional imaging in radiotherapy planning. Katherina is currently working on how to optimise radiotherapy planning according to functional distribution.
