Dose-volume histograms (DVHs) are used when evaluating a treatment plan. • Useful for comparing alternative plans • If two DVHs overlap it is not clear which one is better. • Dose-volume constraints are surrogates for a normal-tissue complication probability (NTCP)

What if we could associate a risk value to each DVH?
