Radiation oncology in current cancer treatment

• About 50-55% of all cancer patients get RT in the course of their disease.

• RT is involved in around 40% of all cancer cures , alone or in combination with surgery and/or systemic treatment.

• In 2035, an estimated 12 million people will need RT worldwide.

• In Belgium, 0,5% of the total health care budget is spent on RT.
