Dosimeters recommended for reference dosimetry are in many cases not useful:

• large sensitive volume (0.1-1 cm 3 )  volume averaging (build-up, penumbra, IMRT gradients, output small fields)

• single point  long measurement times • bulky  difficult in solid anthropomorphic phantoms
