 for no alternative: reading = C·dose, with fixed C in all situations  (non-linearity, energy-dependence, dose-rate dependence, …)  deviations from ideal not always known or easily predictable Nevertheless:  detectors are applied a lot and they are indispensable in RT  often combination of detector types: check for consistency, gather complimentary data.
