Quality Management 2017
The patients said: «No decision about me without me» (2)
Results Characteristics of participants: Twenty-one interviews were conducted. This included nine GI and GY patients aged 25– 80 years. Twelve MDM members were interviewed .
Conclusions 1 . Patients had limited knowledge of MDMs or opportunities to input to MDM meeting discussions. 2 . There is a need to ensure MDM processes are both efficient and patient-centred. 3. The operationalization of “No decision about me without me” in the context of MDM models of care requires further consideration. 4 . Methods for ensuring that patients are actively integrated into the MDM processes are required to ensure patients have an informed choice regarding engagement , and to ensure recommendations are based on the available patient-based & clinical evidence.
