TUMOR • Definition of extension based on wall thickness:

• common with benign disease (esophagitis, hypertrophy due to obstruction, fluid/food, others)

• Definition of mediastinal invasion based on fat invasion: • frequently impossible to distinguish normal fat planes for mid- esophageal area; underweights patients; GEJ loss of esophageal fat

• Definition of tumor volume in the lower part hampered by motion artifacts (heart), paucity of fat
