Conclusion

• Proton therapy offers a CHANCE for improved sparing of normal tissue (or dose intensification) • Advantage greater for large target volumes, in high doses and in very young • Increasing role in children worldwide • Experiences in on-CNS tumours: mainly Sarcomas , … • Increasingly neuroblastomas, nephroblastomas, lymphomas • To be implemented into multidisciplinary framework/trials (SIOP, GPOH…) • Increasing capacity in Europe and elsewhere • At WPE/Essen particular focus on children • Data on PT (as on any other technique!) to be collected and evaluated (toxicity/TU but also QoL & neuropsych.)
