Is combined local treatment better than surgery alone? • There are no randomized studies on the question of whether combined local treatment (surgery plus radiotherapy) offers an advantage over surgery alone

• The data from major studies demonstrate that the local control rate after surgery plus radiotherapy was better that after surgery alone

• Combined local treatment improves local control and survival in patients who are at high risk for local failure after resection
