Osteoporosis & myopathy

Osteoporosis : • Development of osteoporosis is particularly high in patients taking other osteoporosis-inducing drugs (e.g. loop diuretics, thyroxine)

• Prophylaxis: Calcium, vitamine D, biphosphonates

Myopathy: • Weakness of the proximal muscles of the upper and lower limbs • No data supporting the hypothesis that myopathy occurs more frequently when „fluorinated“ steroids are used • Prophylaxis: physiotherapy
