GEC-ESTRO recommendations in skin brachytherapy

RECOMMENDED MARGINS FOR PRESCRIPTION (CTV):

• BCC: -5 mm margin for well defined lesions,

- 7-10 mm margin for poorly defined, large, infiltrative, morphoeic or sclerotic types.

• SCC: - lesions <20 mm margin of 10-15 mm - lesions >20 mm margin of 15-20 mm • Merkel cell carcinoma: - 20-30 mm peripheral margin

- deep margin at least 5-10 mm below visible extension

• Post-operative cases: whole surgical site.

Peripheral and deep margins as per histopathology report. • PTV (extra margin) is needed for shielded applicators and flaps.
