SUPERFICIAL SHIELDED APPLICATORS

• Superficial radionuclide or electronic based shielded applicators are indicated mainly for small volume lesions on regular surfaces. • They always must be in complete contact with the surface, fixed without pressing the skin and be immobilized. • Dose is usually prescribed to 3-4 mm depth. • Skin high frequency ultrasound of the lesion or surgical bed to define the depth of CTV is recommended in skin tumours.
