RTT - Patient experience and quality of life
ESTRO 2024
The data gathered from the staff feedback survey supported the early intervention of prehabilitation as part of patient’s journey, particularly when transitioning to different providers as part of cancer pathways.
Conclusion:
The implementation of a virtual radiotherapy process specific prehabilitation programme had a positive impact on reducing levels of stress and anxiety prior to attending for pre-treatment planning CT. The results of our study are informing an inclusive strategy on how to optimise radiotherapy patient experience and communication through the implementation of a virtual radiotherapy process specific prehabilitation programme. The role of PAC was highlighted as a key feature in building relationships for effective communication as part of hearing the whole patient story to inform how to support the patient experience as part of radiotherapy.
