Purpose/Objective:
Recurrent thymoma is a challenging clinical entity characterized by limited research on optimal treatment strategies. Despite aggressive surgical interventions, recurrence rates remain substantial, ranging from 10% to 30%. Thymomas often metastasize to the pleura and lungs, adding complexity to the management of this condition. The advent of stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) has emerged as a promising approach, providing an opportunity to deliver radiation treatments with radical intent in carefully selected patients. Our institution previously conducted a study to explore the efficacy of SBRT in treating patients with oligorecurrent thymoma, demonstrating favorable results in terms of local disease control (LC) and limited toxicities. This report describes the experience of our center, with an extended follow-up period.
