Brachytherapy - General

ESTRO 2024

We demonstrated the feasibility of remote training using a novel platform designed to display the critical information required to successfully accomplish a brachytherapy case. The proctor had the “eyes of the student” enabling him to see everything the student sees and interact with him in real-time. Additional advancements and research are required to establish the educational credibility and practicality of RTP. This can assist international working groups (ABS GEC-ESTRO) in their efforts to promote enduring knowledge and facilitate effective knowledge dissemination, thereby fostering the wider adoption of brachytherapy.

Results:

The provinces covered by our questionnaire, we found that the coverage may be related to the incidence of disease.Guangdong Province ranked first in the country, Xinjiang and Sichuan ranked second and third respectively. The survey showed a burnout prevalence of 54.9%, which correlated with age and professional experience; that is, the prevalence is particularly high among younger brachytherapy specialists. Exhaustion is closely related to employment status; that is, it was significantly higher among employed oncologists. There were remarkably low levels of disengagement among oncologists, highlighting the own demand to fulfil job requirements despite imminent or actual overburdening in daily work.

Conclusion:

More support is necessary to mitigate the professional stressors in the healthcare system. To ensure quality medical care, employees should be offered preventive mental health services early in their careers.
