ESTRO 2024

Conclusion:

In this large STS cohort, preoperative treatment resulted in high RO rate and favorable outcomes. R1 resection and G3 disease correlated respectively with impaired LC and DMFS. Both factors were associated with poorer OS, outpointing the interest of treatment intensification. Notably, IMRT and concurrent CT were not correlated with a higher rate of major wound complication.

Purpose/Objective:

Kaposi sarcoma is a highly radiosensitive disease. In cases of only skin involvement, treatment consists in use external beam radiotherapy alone. In the population of Georgia we find many cases of this disease that is not associated with AIDS.

We have tried to test two different schemes according to circumference involvement, comparing in terms of response, relapse and toxicity.

Material/Methods:

Between 2016 and 2022 we have treated 27 patients with non-AIDS-associated Kaposi sarcoma.

The median follow-up is 3 years.

The average age of the patients is 60 years

Men 60%, women 40%

Location- 80% both lower extremities, 18% both upper extremities, 2%-upper and lower extremities.

Disease was limited on skin superficies, no GI mucosa or lymph node involvement
