decision aids to inform treatment selection for patients with localised prostate cancer and had been published in English.

Results:

Title and abstract screening was conducted for 1563 identified studies. Eighteen studies underwent full-text screening. Six studies were eligible for inclusion. In total, 2411 patients participated in the included trials. Decision aid design differed between studies. Five studies used a validated tool to measure treatment regret at varying time points. Three of the six studies found that using a decision aid reduced treatment regret in patients with localised prostate cancer.

Conclusion:

Decision aids may be helpful for patients with localised prostate cancer. Variations in decision aid design and timing of implementation may all contribute to the inconsistent findings observed. Future research should address these discrepancies and explore the factors that influence the effectiveness of decision aids in reducing treatment regret.
