Results:

In Figure1, the mean values (with confidence intervals) of the % values of all considered blood cells parameters normalized to the baseline values are shown up to 5 years from the end of RT. The reduction of WBC, ANC, ALC and RBC was always statistically significant (p-values<0.0082) at all time points, while absolute counts of Hb and PLT remained significantly different from baseline only until 3 years after RT end (p-values<0.0042). At 5 years, the median % values of WBC, ANC, ALC and RBC with respect to the baseline were 88.6, 93.7, 74.7 and 96.2%, respectively.

In Figure2 a visual representation of lymphocyte counts over time shows the impact of acute G3+ lymphopenia on ALC count (p-values<10 -5 ).

G3+ lymphopenia incidence was 0.2% at baseline, but rapidly rose to 39% during or by the end of RT. At 3 months it dropped to 5.4%, reaching the baseline level after 2 years. In addition, while only 1.9% of patients experienced G2 lymphopenia at baseline, it was recorded in 46.6% of patients during or at RT end, and in 7.5% and 4.1% of men at 2 and 5 years, respectively.
