Fostering a radiant future: visibility and appeal of Radiation Oncology among your medical graduates

Purpose/Objective:

An in-depth analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the Radiation Oncology visibility, the training plan, and why it is less attractive for new medical residents.

Material/Methods:

An online survey using the Google Forms platform was circulated to a selected group of Spanish Radiation Oncology residents considered representative between August and September of 2022. Participation was fully anonymous. The questionnaire consisted of a total of 23 questions organized into four sections.

Results:

A total of 50 medical internal residents (MIR) in Radiation Oncology responded to the survey. Residents from most autonomous communities participated. Most of the participants were in the fourth (last) year of residence (R4, 34.7%), followed by the second year (R2, 30.6%).
